Where customers can reach Anchor, and what is real today
Three different questions get three different answers here: is the connector built, has it run against a real account, and what must happen with the provider before it can serve the public. Whether a channel is connected for your business is shown in your dashboard.
The six channels
Only the website widget is in use today. The others are built and tested against simulated providers; none has yet run against a live Page, number, bot or mailbox.
Website widget and hosted storefront
In use
A chat window you add to your own site with one script tag, plus a hosted storefront page you can share as a link.
What you need
Access to edit your site. Nothing to approve with a third party.
Outside Anchor
None.
Limits
It works on pages where you install it; it is not a replacement for your checkout.
Facebook Page (Messenger)
Built; tested with simulated provider only
Customers who message your Facebook Page get grounded answers, and your staff replies go back to them in Messenger.
What you need
A Facebook Page, its Page ID and a Page access token with the pages_messaging permission, from a Meta developer app.
Outside Anchor
Meta app review: until Meta approves the app for public use, only people with a role on the app can message the Page. This Anchor server also needs its Meta app secret and webhook token configured.
Limits
Direct messages only. Page comments, comment-to-message replies, post publishing and ads are not part of Anchor. Not yet run against a live Page.
WhatsApp Business
Built; tested with simulated provider only
Customers who message your business number get grounded answers, and staff can reply from Anchor.
What you need
A WhatsApp Business Cloud API phone number and access token from a Meta developer app.
Outside Anchor
Meta business verification and app review; this server needs the Meta app secret and webhook token. A WhatsApp link or the ordinary WhatsApp app is not this integration.
Limits
Free-form replies are accepted only inside WhatsApp's 24-hour customer-service window and approved message templates are not supported yet. Not yet run with a live number.
Instagram direct messages
Built; tested with simulated provider only
Direct messages to your Instagram professional account get grounded answers, with staff replies sent back.
What you need
An Instagram professional account linked to a Facebook Page and an access token from a Meta developer app.
Outside Anchor
Meta app review for the Instagram messaging permission; this server needs the Meta app secret and webhook token.
Limits
Direct messages only: no comment replies, no story replies. Not yet run against a live account.
Telegram bot
Built; tested with simulated provider only
A Telegram bot you create yourself answers customers, with staff replies delivered through the same bot.
What you need
A bot token from @BotFather (free and instant).
Outside Anchor
No app review. This server needs its public HTTPS address configured so Telegram can reach the webhook.
Limits
Text messages. Not yet run with a live bot.
Email
Built; tested with simulated provider only
A dedicated address on Anchor's mail domain receives customer email, answers it, and sends staff replies through Resend.
What you need
Choosing an address name in Channels.
Outside Anchor
This server needs an inbound mail domain, a Resend API key and Resend's webhook secret configured. A mailto link is not a shared inbox.
Limits
Plain-text replies. Not yet run with a live mailbox.
Twelve things Anchor manages across channels
These apply to every connector that is switched on.
01Guided connection
Available
Each connector has its own card in Channels with what you need, the provider approval it depends on, and whether this server can run it yet. You cannot connect a channel the server cannot serve.
02Permissions and token health
Available, with limits
A connection shows the last message received and the last send error. Tokens are stored on the server, never shown back to you and never in browser code.
03Correct-business routing
Available
An incoming event is matched to a business only from the channel account ID you connected, never from anything inside the message, so one business cannot receive another's conversations.
04Signature and secret checks
Available
Meta events are checked against their signature, Telegram against a per-bot secret and email against Resend's signature. Unverified requests are rejected.
05Duplicate and replayed events
Available
Provider retries are recognised and processed once, so a customer is not answered twice.
06Human takeover
Available, with limits
Your team reads and replies from one inbox. Anchor does not yet have a per-conversation "AI paused" switch or assignment to a named agent.
07Delivery state and retry
Available
Every staff reply shows whether the provider accepted it. A failed one shows the reason and can be retried a limited number of times; the reply stays saved either way.
08Consent and opt-outs
Available
Anchor only replies inside a conversation the customer started. It does not send unsolicited or bulk messages, and there is no broadcast feature.
09Disconnecting
Available
Disconnecting a channel stops new events from being routed to your business. Existing conversation history stays in your workspace.
10Message windows and templates
Available, with limits
WhatsApp only accepts free-form replies for 24 hours after the customer's last message. Approved templates for messages outside that window are not built.
11Test versus live
Available, with limits
All connectors other than the website widget have been tested against simulated providers only. A live smoke test needs your provider accounts; until then treat them as ready to try, not proven.
12Privacy and data handling
Available
Conversation data belongs to your business and is separated from every other business. See the privacy policy for what is stored and for how long.
